Summer Makeup: Sweatproof, Waterproof, Shineproof Makeup

Share/Bookmark

Outdoor temperatures are rising quicker than normal all over the world this year. And, because of this, your makeup will be dripping off your face earlier, too, if you don't nip it in the bud sooner than later. What's a girl to do?

Anti-Shine Products

Anti-shine is an amazing product to bring everywhere you go. It's better than powder and, with an anti-shine, you don't get that disgusting residue that you get from a day's worth of powdering your nose.

Makeup Primer

A great way to prevent you makeup from dripping off too soon is to use a light textured makeup primer. Using a primer makes your makeup last a great deal longer, even in the summer time.

Fast & Easy Makeup Application

Rarely is there a case that someone likes more versus less makeup in the summer. The best thing you can do for yourself this season is a "flash makeup"; that is, a makeup that will take you all of seven minutes to do.

Tinted Moisturizer

Start out by saying goodbye to that heavy load you've been sporting over the winter and use a tinted moisturizer in its place. Tinted moisturizers are light in texture and give you a little boost of both color and glow without looking like you are wearing the good ol' orange mask. Although they are called moisturizers by name, tinted moisturizers are generally not overly moisturizing; wear at least a light moisturizer underneath to get the proper hydration that your skin needs. Yes, even in the summer.

Bronzing Powder

A bronzing powder dusted lightly along the cheekbone, at the temples and across the nose will turn out a bronzier you.

Waterproof Eye Makeup

Waterproof eye colors, which generally come in a stick or cream form, are the best way to keep you eyes bright and without creases. Most powder shadows - no matter how pigmented or milled - will end up creasy and need a lot of blending. Save powder shadows for the evening, when it (hopefully) cools off a bit.

Finish the eyes with either a waterproof pencil liner at the base of the lash and/ or a liquid liner, skimmed softly above the base of your lash line.

Of course, waterproof mascara is an absolute necessity. Don't believe the hype that waterproof mascaras take at least a week to come off. This is no longer true. Mascara has come a long way; many companies don't fill it with the old waterproof faithful, beeswax. Tip: for removal of waterproof mascara, use a dual action eye makeup remover (the kind that separates). These products have become less greasy and leave much less residue, if any at all (remember: think prestige when it comes to any kind of skin care).

Tinted Lip Balm

Finally, we mustn't neglect your lips. Your best bet for lip products in the summer is to use a fabulous tinted lip balm with an SPF of at least 15. Have you ever noticed that your poor little pout is the first to be parched after a fun day of frolicking in the sun? SPF is the answer. There are some fun products out there, some that are even flavored and fruity or minty. Go for what you love!
